Tukarak Island is the location of the soapstone mining for Josie’s main source of material. Josie is able to get scraps from local people. Great thing about carvers in Sanikiluaq is people help each other out with soapstone's.

Josie carves at his shack beside his house. He is a full time carver. Josie’s way of life are hunting and fishing in his own time.
